A little over two years ago, my wife, Megan, and I decided to move to Chicago so that I could attend seminary at North Park Theological Seminary. It has been an incredible time since we arrived in Chicago in August 2014. Since then we have been pushed far outside of our comfort zones, we have grown in ways we couldn't have imagined, and we have gained valuable life experience that we will draw on for the rest of our lives.
We now feel, however, that God is calling us back to Greeley for a time. I have an opportunity to work with the church we attended in college, Atlas Church, and Megan is hoping to get back into teaching. We really don't know what Greeley has in store for us. We may stay there for years, or we may not. We really have no idea.
One thing we know for sure, however, is that we feel called to begin this new journey back home, and while we are uncertain about some aspects of the future, we are certain that God is and will be will us, which is, in part, why I have titled this blog "The Lord Remembers." We know that God will remember us.
"The Lord remembers" is also the meaning of my name, and if you will allow me to reflect a moment, I'd like mention that meditating on my name has become an incredibly valuable part of my spiritual experience. I am often being reminded that I am not forgotten by God, and bear the weight of this fact in my name, in what I am called, is profoundly powerful.
And so we begin this journey back from where we came. We will be leaving in August, but I have already begun to mourn the impending distance from North Park. This Seminary has been so good to me, and I feel as though I am leaving my new home behind. I pray that we can make the most of these next few months while we are still in town, and we will all most definitely keep in touch in the coming year.
Anyway, I started this blog so I could update anyone who is interested on what Megan and I (and Penny) are up to. I plan to make an entry at least every month when I am back in CO, and I may post now and then while I am in Chicago.
